Custom work - Shocker Sport QEV Bolt Mod Tech index -> Custom Work -> Shocker Sport QEV Bolt Mod

This modification is designed to increase the cycling speed of a Shocker Sport's bolt. This mod is to be used in conjunction with my Spectre-II firing assembly redesign. Together, the two will increase the firing speed of the marker to levels hopefully as fast as some other closed bolt markers out there, say 15-17 bps (that would be nice anyway).

The origin for this mod is in how quickly the bolt piston is able to vent when it shifts position. This is almost always the limiting factor in how quickly a piston-type assembly in a paintball marker can cycle, and definitely applies with the Shocker Sport as well. Normally, air must be shunted down through the small air transfer ports and through the 4000 "bolt" solenoid as it vents. This modification will remove the built-in porting of the Shocker body and replace it with a solenoid attached to the bolt assembly using LP hose (1/8" hose). The bolt assembly itself is fitted with a pair of QEVs to allow air to vent right at the bolt housing, instead of having to travel all the way back to the solenoid.

The modified bolt housing looks like this:

The two assembled, with QEVs installed into position, will look like this when finished...

This mod isn't finished; I was never able to complete it.
