Custom work - Shocker Pie frame Tech index -> Custom Work -> Shocker Pie frame

This is an updated version of the original prototype Shocker Pie frames that I created in 2010. The original goal was production of the aftermarket frames once the outside details were finalized (grips, boards, etc). However, I wasn't able to obtain support from any aftermarket board developers on the new circuitry, so the project stalled.

When it came time to re-evaluate the frame, the biggest hurtle stopping me from making more was the sheer number of parts that needed to be created. I had redesigned the trigger, grips, lower board, snatchgrip, and other things. Skipping ahead to modern times, all these new parts would need to be forgotten in order for the frame to become reality. The cost to produce all these new items was simply too high, especially considering the limited market for Shocker upgrades now that they have been discontinued for years.
The new frame would include these changes from the older one...
· Compatible with most Shocker triggers (SFT or NXT)
· Compatible with most Shocker grip panels/wraps
· Compatible with all Shocker lower boards
· Enhanced cosmetics that follow a similar trend laid by the Nummech VL frames, which have already been on the market for years and are well-received by players.
· Optional: also compatible with Etek LT boards

The new frame isn't so different compared to the previous Pie frames, and I'm pleased with the design changes. The original project goals were to create a frame vastly superior to the Shocker OEM frames from Smart Parts, but making revisions was necessary to ensure the frame was realistic enough to be produced in the first place. The older version frame was too different and I ran into too many problems with making them.

As a bonus feature, I designed the frames with the ability to use the main circuit board from an Etek LT marker. This can be done in a situation where you want to eliminate the use of the stock Shocker upper board and eye system. A preview of this layout is shown below...

The Etek LT board's holders are integrated into the frame. You will need to contact me directly to get extra milling for the Etek LT buttons and LEDs, since the frames won't come with those holes unless you special order it.

Prototype:

Once I laid out the production, we made a small batch of frame to test them out on the field. Here you can see one of the prototypes installed on a 2003 Shocker SFT.

Production 2015:
At long last.....we began making a small batch of frames in Spring of 2015. This was a very interesting project since it was one of the original products from the creation of my manufacturing company in 2009. Nearly 6 years later the frame was finally being produced.
