Custom work - Quasar Shocker Tech index -> Custom Work -> Quasar Shocker

This body was the end result of trying some "backbone" designs that didn't work out the way I had hoped. The body is still a work-in-progress but I took the time to create an initial version to see how things would come up.

Quasar Shocker prototype body machining

Only one Quasar Shocker body was produced; it was made to test the new milling pattern. The test body turned out like this:

I refer to this as a "prototype" cosmetic system because it's likely to change in any future iterations. I would like to add additional detail to the sides although I haven't taken the time to do it (at the time of writing this page). However, it should be mentioned that this design is unusually time-consuming due to the deep "valley cuts", so adding additional detail will complicate the manufacturing process even further, so the price would probably raise. So I end up with a tradeoff between high detail and high cost.

I had the oppertunity to get the body anodized in a batch of red parts, so had the Quasar body anodized gloss red since it would be different than the common black anodizing that I normally perform. I sold the body on ebay, but the new owner had it re-anodized into a nice black/red splash pattern.
