My Markers -> Competition markers -> 2004 Nerve
Here's my Nerve. I it in January 2005 and it's been one of my favorite guns ever since (especially now that it's discontinued). I prefer to use it second only to my Shockers for high-level games.
· Nerve serial 1963
· Logic USF frame, custom-anodized to match
· NDZ 15º vertical adapter with gauge
· NDZ Equalizer bolt
· NDZ Wave trigger, 80-g microswitch
· Stock detents
· Custom-made ram
· Humphrey solenoid
· I-LEB beam-break eye converter
· Factory upgrade LPR extender
· Prototype valve spacer modification
· Homemade composite grips
· Stainless Freak back with 14" All American front
· HP Max-flo MF-I
Pictured is a Logic USF frame, anodized blue to match the rest of the gun. I've modified the frame with a reverse-poolarity magnetic trigger (so it can be adjusted the same as the stock frames) and drilled a new firing point screw for the trigger (so it actuates the very end of the trigger microswitch lever, instead of "close" to the end).
On the firing assembly, I fabricated an entire new steel ram from scratch. The ram has a hole drilled down the front to reduce weight as much as possible (which dropped the weight by nearly a quarter). I also use special quad-ring seals where needed, which helps to decrease drag (theoretically). There were some pretty nice performance results when I first made the new valve poppet, but it's now included in the factory upgrade so everybody else has it too.
I saw an instant 5-fps increase with the NDZ bolt, so that's what I use.
This is the only Nerve that I've ever installed a multi-purpose Predator board inside, but I removed it after the drop-in version of the board was released. This is what the gun looked like when the multi-purpose board was installed:

After I reverted the marker back to the drop-in board setup, I continued using the beam-break eye system with the Predator board since it allowed me to do so. However, the disadvantage to this was being forced to use the Pred board in order to use the special eye system. As a result, I installed one of my Shocker I-LEB converters in late 2006. This allowed me to use any drop-in board, so I could take out the Predator if I wanted. This was actually appropros since the Pred board I was using exhibited the "semiauto problem" so I was limited to using any other mode besides semiauto. It also drained the batteries abnormally fast (another pandemic defect). Anyways, the finished eye install looks like this:
